New jungle themed signs for the children’s emergency department kindly funded by The Pied Piper Appeal

The space in Children’s ED features a jungle theme decided on by ED colleagues and Arts Coordinator Anoushka Duroe-Richards, who has worked with artist Alice Humphreys to bring this to life. This theme is also reflected in external signage directing patients to the new entrance. The department is designed to be a more friendly experience for children, their parents or carers at a worrying time.

Our specialist children's staff are based at GRH and will provide your child with the care they need.

Emergencies for children

All ambulances will take children to GRH at any time of day or night. You can also bring your child to GRH A&E at any time in an emergency.

• If your child is unwell or injured but it is not a 999 emergency, please call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk to have their need assessed before you come to the Emergency Department. Our specialist children's emergency staff are based at GRH and can provide your child with the care they need.

Minor injuries and illness for children

If your child is injured or unwell but it's not an emergency, call 111 first for advice. Note that you should only take your child to Cheltenham A&E if:

• your child doesn’t need to be admitted to a ward, for example they have a sprained ankle
• your child needs treatment for a minor injury or illness
• you’re bringing your child in before 8pm (there are no specialist children’s facilities at Cheltenham A&E after 8pm)
