Gloucestershire Royal Hospital marks finish line for Sue's Marathon effort

22 Apr 2024, 6:07 p.m.

Former Gloucestershire Occupational Therapist Sue Llewellyn completed her ‘London Marathon My Way’ at the finish line of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Sunday 21 April

Running and walking for Thrombosis UK, Sue wanted to offer hope to other patients who have suffered from thrombosis that recovery may be slow but it is possible.

Sue was admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) at GRH in November 2022 and was found to have blood clots in her lungs. She described how, despite there being none of the usual signs of blood clots, the ED staff rapidly identified what treatment was needed.

Although the department was extremely busy with other very sick patients at the time, Sue described the treatment she received and the "awe inspiring" staff who cared for her as "just incredible".

Congratulations to Sue for completing her London Marathon My Way and thank you to all the colleagues in our Emergency Departments who provide life-saving treatment and care to patients every day.
