Our blood test services are for:

• Patients that require specialist test (i.e. Hotbox, test requiring samples on Ice, ESRs)
• Patients that are under the care of a hospital consultant

Phlebotomy service opening hours

• West Block Outpatients Phlebotomy Department: Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm – Closed during bank holidays and weekends
• Edward Jenner Unit Phlebotomy Department: Monday to Friday: 08:00am to 4:45pm – Closed during bank holidays and weekends
• General Outpatients Department Gloucester Royal Hospital: Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm – Closed during bank holidays and weekends

Cirencester Hospital Outpatient Phlebotomy Service

Gloucestershire Health and Care services provide blood tests at Cirencester Hospital for patients aged 16 and over whose consultant requests one. Blood tests for children

If your GP or Paediatric Consultant has requested a blood test for your child:

We are currently in the process of changing how we provide paediatric blood tests.

The new system will start from 11th May.

We do not currently offer a drop-in service. You will need to book an appointment for Cheltenham or Gloucester Children’s Outpatients.

If your child is between 2 and 12 with no additional needs, we are currently full for appointments until we change to the new system, but please do try for any last-minute cancellations or contact you GP or paediatrician if you require the test before 11 May.

Where to book the blood test for your child - before 11 May 2026

If your child is over the age of 12 with no additional needs

• Your GP service may be able to accommodate your child.
• Children over 12 may be able attend the drop-in service at General Outpatients at Gloucester Royal Hospital or West Block at Cheltenham General Hospital - please ring the service first to confirm.

If your child is between 2 and 12 with no additional needs

We currently have no appointment slots available for over 2 years up to 12 years without additional needs due to change over on 11th May. From 11 May your child will be able to attend the new children's drop-in clinics, see details below.

If your child is under 2 or has additional needs (up to age 16)

We do not offer a drop-in service. You will need to book an appointment at Gloucester Children’s Outpatients.

If your child is over the age of 12 with no additional needs

• Your GP service may be able to accommodate your child.
• Children over 12 should attend the drop-in service at General Outpatients at Gloucester Royal Hospital or West Block at Cheltenham General Hospital.

If your child is between 2 and 12 with no additional needs

From 11 May we will be offering a new drop-in service for children’s blood tests.

Please check days and times as this is not available every day. If the service is at capacity for the day you may be asked to return on a different day.

If your child is under 2 or has additional needs (up to age 16)

We do not offer a drop-in service. You will need to book an appointment at Gloucester Children’s Outpatients.

Appointments can be booked for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
