Department of Immunology
Notes
- Specific IgE are available to a large number of antigens however taking a thorough clinical history will facilitate targeted testing which makes good use of resources.
- Blanket request for IgE testing or food allergies will not be processed. Allergen specific IgE results should be interpreted in the context of the clinical history.
- Further information on food allergy in children and young people can be obtained here; NICE Guidelines. If you have any questions regarding adult patients, please discuss with Immunology.
- Low frequency allergens are either referred to Immunology at Southmead Hospital or the Protein Reference Unit at Sheffield Northern General Hospital.
