CD4 Quantitation in HIV Disease

Notes

• CD3, CD4 and CD8 monitoring for known HIV positive patients
• Same day sample preferable
• Tests are performed by the North Bristol NHS Trust
• This test would not routinely be requested as an add-on test to an existing sample, a fresh sample is normally required. This may need discussion with a Consultant Haematologist i.e. if the patient does not have a well-established diagnosis of HIV infection

Considerations

The published turnaround time is taken from receipt of the sample in the Bristol laboratory. As this is a send away test, please take in to consideration sample transportation time and that Bristol do not provide routine services on weekends or bank holidays.
