Gloucestershire Hospital launches a new TRiM management model, to help support the mental wellbeing of employees after experiencing traumatic events in the workplace.

The TRiM process is a peer-delivered risk assessment process carried out through a set number of questions that the practitioner guides you through. The outcome of this will determine the level and nature of support that is needed.

TRiM Practitioners/Managers are colleagues across both hospital sites, who have been through specific training so that they understand the effects that traumatic incidents can have on people.

This type of programme started in the Military and is being rolled out within other organisations, including hospitals. The TRiM model was funded by Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, as part of their commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of hospital staff.

Kate Green, Director of Fundraising at the Charity, said "Thanks to the public's support, we are incredibly grateful to be able to fund this project. We know that this type of support can make a real impact on the emotional wellbeing of our staff, especially after recent pressures. Our focus at the Charity is to work closely with the hospitals to find out how we can best support our colleagues, not just with their immediate needs, but also planning for the future."
