We aim to care for our older patients with compassion, dignity and respect and work in partnership with the patient, family and carers.

We are dedicated to maintaining and improving the health, independence and quality of life for our older patients and to care for them in a safe, friendly environment.

We do this by working jointly with a team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, social workers, pharmacists and psychologists, meeting at least once a week to discuss our patients.

The Care of the Elderly (CoTE) Department encompasses the hospitals Frailty Service. The Frailty Service is a specialist multidisciplinary assessment and admissions team dedicated to supporting frail older adults. It provides timely Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, evaluating and co-ordinating safe, person-centred care from the point of arrival and supporting early discharge home with close connection to community services and the Frailty Virtual Ward. Working closely with our CoTE wards and multidisciplinary teams, the frailty service helps ensure that older people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

  • Movement Disorders (Dr Fletcher, Dr Nandi, Dr Kulkarni)
  • Frailty HOT clinics (Dr Alexander, Dr Cavanagh)
  • Syncope Clinic (Dr Cavanagh)
  • Geriatric Medicine Clinics (Dr Welding, Dr Asghar, Dr Fletcher, Dr Gaunt, Dr MacDonald)

There are outpatient clinics at following community hospitals

  • The Forest of Dean Hospital (Falls, Dr Nandi)
  • Tewkesbury Hospital (Dr Fletcher)
  • North Cotswold Hospital (Dr Fletcher)
  • Cirencester Hospital (Dr Welding)
